Connection and Basic Needs: Partnering with Housing Justice

Housing Justice works at the intersection of faith and social action, partnering with churches and volunteer hosts to provide safe, temporary accommodation for people experiencing homelessness and destitution, ensuring no one is left entirely without support.

The Situation

We supported vulnerable individuals, including older asylum seekers, survivors of modern-day slavery, and young survivors of family-related domestic abuse navigating the complexities of Leave to Remain, who are entirely excluded from statutory support, facing severe destitution, rough sleeping, and reliance on host properties where hosts cannot provide full daily meals.

The Impact of our Grant

Monthly destitution payments provide these individuals with the means to top up mobile phones and Oyster cards, ensuring they can maintain vital contact with solicitors, support workers, and ESOL classes, while securing access to food and daily provisions.
