Individual Grant: Home-Start Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea

Home-Start is a family support charity working with partners and young children facing challenging circumstances, including poverty, housing instability, and the impact of domestic abuse. The organisation provides practical and emotional support to help families build resilience, improve wellbeing, and create safer, more stable environments for children.

Our Individual Grant will support a family with young children currently living in temporary accommodation in Kensington & Chelsea. Funding will contribute towards essential household items, including furniture and white goods, helping create a safe, functional living space that supports the children’s development and wellbeing.

Home-Start shared about the family:

“The family has experienced ongoing housing instability since they fled domesti violence and entered temporary accommodation. They have been moved repeatedly between unsuitable properties; many moves occurred with little notice, and the family lost most of their belongings along the way.

These repeated displacements have severely disrupted the children’s routines, education, and access to support services. Constant instability has left them without a consistent place to sleep, play, or learn, contributing to emotional and behvaioural difficulties.

The family has recently been placed in temporary accommodation which is completely unfurnished. They urgently require basic items such as white goods and furniture to meet the children’s daily needs and ensure the home is safe and functional.”
