Individual Grant: Southwark Care Leavers

Southwark Care Leavers supports young people who have been in care as they transition into adulthood, typically up to the age of 25. The service provides tailored support to help care leavers build stable, independent lives, including assistance with housing, education, employment, health, and emotional wellbeing.

Our Individual Grant will support a care leaver currently living in temporary accommodation in Southwark, who has experienced significant trauma following a serious incident that resulted in loss of her tenancy. Funding will contribute towards replacing essential personal belongings, primarily clothing, as well as outstanding utility costs.

The organisation shared about the young person:

“The money will help her replace several items that were irreparably damaged during the incident. Due to the stress and chaos, she lost her job, and her reduced Universal Credit income is insufficient to pay for this.”
