Safety, Dignity, and Hope: Supporting Bromley & Croydon Women’s Aid

Bromley & Croydon Women’s Aid (BCWA) is a trauma-informed charity providing a comprehensive range of services, including emergency refuge accommodation, outreach advocacy, and specialised support for survivors of domestic abuse. They focus on empowering women and children to rebuild their lives free from fear, addressing both the immediate physical safety needs and the long-term psychological impact of abuse.

The Situation

We supported individuals and families who are now housed in Bromley & Croydon Women’s Aid’s refuge. These beneficiaries have fled severe domestic abuse and financial control, often facing extreme destitution, empty rooms, and the barriers of temporary refuge without access to public funds or independent resources.

The Impact of our Grant

Grants were directly utilised to purchase essential furniture, bedding, baby supplies, interview and professional clothing, specialised sensory items, and household goods, transforming difficult transitions into functional, welcoming environments.

From our Referee Partner

“The grants will enable the clients to gain confidence and a sense of dignity as they continue to recover from their experiences, moving out of empty rooms into a fully furnished and safe home.”

Why this support matters

Basic household stability and access to personal essentials are the foundation of recovery. Providing beds, appliances, and tailored family provisions removes immediate crisis pressure, allowing survivors to focus on healing, employment, and long-term safety.
