Supporting families in need: Lewisham Donation Hub

We are proud to have supported Lewisham Donation Hub with one of our project grants to provide crisis items for Londoners challenged by homelessness. Thanks to our funding, they were able to purchase kitchen equipment including microwaves, ensuring that vulnerable families have the means to prepare warm meals.

Since opening in 2020, Lewisham Donation Hub has been a vital community-led initiative, providing essential items – including food, clothing, and household goods – to people facing crisis. Their incredible work supports low-income families, refugees, asylum seekers and individuals experiencing homelessness across Lewisham and beyond. Driven by volunteers and sustained through donations, the hub ensures that no one in the community is left without basic necessities.

The organisation said:

“We were able to purchase 13 microwaves which were then shared with families in need. Microwaves are one of the most important items that we share. By providing a microwave, we are then able to support people with single portion frozen meals. Your funding has ensured many families can have warm, nutritious meals, particularly important through the winter months.”

This initiative is a simple yet powerful reminder of how essential household items can make a huge difference for people facing hardship.
